HC Deb 27 November 1980 vol 994 c187W
Mr. Morgan

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) whether, in view of the continuing inflated price of agricultural land, he will consider so amending the law relating to capital transfer tax that the latter shall be assessed upon the productive, and not the open market, value of any such land;

(2) whether, in view of the continuing inflated price of agricultural land, he will consider increasing the working farmer relief currently available against capital transfer tax from 50 per cent, to 75 per cent.;

(3) whether he will consider the introduction of a new general relief against capital transfer tax in the case of transfers of agricultural land within the same family.

Mr. Lawson

I have noted my hon. Friend's suggestions.
