Mr. Marlowasked the Prime Minister what is the total cost of United Kingdom membership of the European Economic Community including the net budget contribution and the cost of net imports to the United Kingdom of European Economic Community food and feedstuffs over and above the world market prices.
§ The Prime MinisterThe latest year for which estimates of both these costs are available is 1979, when the United Kingdom's net contribution to the Community budget was £947 million. The cost of net imports of food and feedstuffs from the rest of the Community at Community rather than world prices cannot be established with precision but was of the order of £200 million to £250 million.
