§ Mr. Thompsonasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, following his acceptance of the May committee's recommendation, he is now in a position to announce the appointment of two non-executive members of the Prisons Board.
§ Mr. WhitelawI have appointed as non-executive members of the Prisons Board Mrs. J. Hughes, the group industrial relations director at Macmillan Publishers Ltd, and Mr. P. J. Custis, the director of finance for Guest Keen and Nettlefolds Ltd. In accordance with the May committee recommendation, they will bring to the board an independent point of view and they will contribute to its deliberations from their own particular knowledge and experience.
