Mr. Hordern

asked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will publish a table showing the total cost of wages and salaries and their percentage increase each year since 1970 for the Civil Service.

Estimates provision for the staff of central Government Departments since 1970–71, and the percentage change in each case, is set out in the table below:
