asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what was the total academic staff of the Ulster College in 1973; and what was the corresponding number in 1979, showing for each year the number of schools in each faculty, and the number of full-time students.

Mr. Goodhart

The total number of academic staff at the Ulster College in March 1973 was 361 and the number in March 1979 was 560. In March 1973 there were 2,448 full-time equivalent students—including 1,916 full-time students—and in March 1979 there were 5,490 full-time equivalent students (including 3,928 full-time and sandwich students).

The number of schools in each faculty was as follows:
