HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 cc420-1W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will take steps to break through the present impasse in his talks with the tobacco companies and bring about a clampdown on all forms of cigarette and tobacco advertising and promotion.

Sir George Young

As I said in reply to the hon. Member for Brent. South (Mr. Pavitt) on 11 November—[Vol. 992, c. 183–4]—the negotiations are continuing and my right hon. Friend will make a statement when they are concluded. I can confirm that cigarette advertising and promotion are among the matters under discussion.
