HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 c306W
Mr. George Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what are the comparative figures for the number of post-school education places as a percentage of population in (a) Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries and (b) in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Boyson

In 1977, 2.2 per cent of the United Kingdom population was enrolled in full-time post-compulsory education. Because of the considerable differences that exist between the educational systems of the other OECD countries concerned it is not possible to make meaningful comparisons.
