HL Deb 13 November 1980 vol 414 cc1545-6WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are satisfied that the Answer to the Written Question (Official Report, 29th July 1980, col. 859) on the emoluments and allowances of parliamentarians is correct; in particular, whether they will make it clear that members of the European Parliament do not receive a monthly allowance for constituency travel.

The PARLIAMENTARY UNDERSECRETARY of STATE, HOME OFFICE (Lord Belstead)

To the best of our knowledge, the information contained in that reply is correct. The allowances paid to members of the European Parliament are a matter for that body, however, and I shall write to my noble friend when I have inquired into the particular matter he raises.
