HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 c413W
Dr. Roger Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he intends to change the vocational training requirements for entry into general practice after 15 February in order that qualified women doctors are not discriminated against; and if he will make a statement.

Sir George Young

No. The National Health Service (Vocational Training) Regulations 1979 will apply equally to all doctors intending to provide general medical services and there is no reason to suppose that women doctors will be discriminated against; indeed, the provision for acceptance of part-time training should be of particular help to women doctors with domestic commitments.
