HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 cc350-1W
30. Mr. Stanbrook

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is his estimate of the total numbers of those dependants of immigrants settled in the United Kingdom before 1 January 1973 who have not yet taken advantage of their implied right of entry for settlement.

Mr. Raison

It is not possible to make a soundly based estimate of this kind. Any estimate which might be made would be subject to such a wide margin of error as to be both unreliable and misleading.

32. Mr. Bidwell

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Filipino women having children overseas he has decided to deport and how many have been allowed to remain.

Mr. Raison

At the beginning of this month, 278 illegal entrants affected by the Claveria judgment had been identified. Of these, 65 had been removed or departed voluntarily; 93 had been given indefinite or limited leave to remain; 3 had absconded; and 117 cases remained to be decided. Most of the people concerned are Filipino women but an analysis according to sex and nationality is not readily available.
