HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 c474W
Mr. Hicks

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the names, with amounts, of those housing aid projects funded under section 13 of the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977 which have had their financial assistance withdrawn for the financial year 1980–81; and if he will list those projects, with amounts, that continue to receive Government support in 1980–81.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

The following organisations are in receipt of grant under section 13 of the Housing (Homeless Persons) Act 1977 in 1980–81:

£
1. London Housing Aid Centre (SHAC) 94,000
2. Shelter National Housing Aid Trust (SNHAT) 11,700
3. After Six Housing Advisory Trust 33,400
4. CHAR (Campaign for Single Homeless People) 20,700
5. National Association of Voluntary Hotels (NAVH) 19,000
6. National Association of Resettlement of Offenders (NACRO) 4,550
7. Life Care and Housing Trust 7,500

Grant offered to SNHAT in the previous two years included an amount towards establishing a housing aid centre in Devon and Cornwall. This was offered and accepted on the understanding that voluntary housing aid work in that area was innovative and that central Government assistance would therefore be appropriate for a limited period only. An application from this centre—now operating independently as Devon and Cornwall housing aid—for assistance beyond this period has been refused.
