HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 c379W
Mr. George Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the figures for the number of post-school education places as a percentage of population in (a) Scotland and (b) Lanark division of Strathclyde region.

Mr. Alexander Fletcher

No information is available on the numbers of post-school education places. In 1978–79, the number of students attending institutions of higher and further education in Scotland (including universities) was equivalent to 4.1 per cent. of the home population for Scotland; and the number attending such institutions in the Lanark division of Strathclyde region was equivalent to 2.6 per cent. of the home population of Lanark division.
