HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 c408W
Sir Walter Clegg

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how the £15 million aid to the United Kingdom fishing industry announced on 7 August will be distributed; and how this will affect departmental cash limits for 1980–81.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

Subject to parliamentary approval of the necessary Supplementary Estimates the increase of £15 million to cover aid to the fishing industry and additional fishery protection costs announced on 7 August will be distributed as follows: £7,879,000 to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, including £900,000 towards the commissioning of two new fishery protection vessels: £6,909,000 to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland: and £212,000 to the Welsh Office. The cash limits for Class III Vote 6 and Class VIII Vote 8 will be increased from £49,722,000 to £56,631,000: and from £4,996,000 to £5,208,000 respectively. In the case of Class III Vote 8 the cash limit will be increased from £24,357,000 to £30,636,000 because identified savings of £1,600,000 have been offset against the amount of £7,879,000 referred to above.
