HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 c428W
Mrs. Faith

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services why no pharmacist has been invited to serve on his working party on drug costs.

Sir George Young

I presume my hon. Friend is referring to the informal working group on prescribing and related maters, consisting of officials of the Department and representatives of the medical profession, which has recently been established to identify ways of encouraging effective prescribing.

Whilst experience suggests that effective prescribing is also economical the work of this group will be by no means limited to an examination of drug costs. The membership of the group has yet to be finally constituted.
