§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Trade, pursuant to his reply to the right hon. Member for Manchester, Wythenshawe, of 10 November about the crash of the Dan Air Boeing 727 at Tenerife on 25 April, if he will now indicate the matters on which full agreement has been reached with the Spanish authorities and also summarise the submissions from the United Kingdom which they are now studying; and whether the further consultations to which the original reply referred will take place.
§ Mr. NottThe primary purpose of the visit to Madrid by members of the accidents investigation branch of my Department was to assist in the drafting of the report upon this accident. When this report is finalised, it is anticipated that the Spanish authorities, which do not normally make such findings public, will grant us permission to publish a direct translation. It, would, therefore be inappropriate, at this time, to detail the content of the report, as this would compromise the likelihood of receiving that permission.
We are awaiting confirmation of the date for the next consultation, which is expected shortly.
