HC Deb 13 November 1980 vol 992 c337W
Mr. Hardy

asked the Secretary of State for Energy (1) how many collieries have been closed and, for how many, closure decisions have been made during the last 12 months; and, of these, what number still had reserves of coal or will have reserves when closure occurs;

(2) when the National Coal Board informs him of colliery closure decisions, the reasons for these decisions are stated; and if all recent decisions to close collieries have included exhaustion or in-accessibility of reserves as the principal reasons.

Mr. John Moore

These are matters for the National Coal Board. I am asking the chairman to write to the hon. Member.
