§ 28 Mr. Strawasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied that progress in improving race relations and equality of opportunity will not be adversely affected by his demand on 15 July to the Commission for Racial Equality for a significant reduction in the commission's staff.
§ Mr. BrittanThe commission, in common with Government Departments and other fringe bodies, has been required to reduce its staff complement in order to accommodate the cost of the 1980 Civil Service pay settlement within the published limits. I have no doubt that the commission, in implementing this requirement, will determine its priorities so as to ensure that its resources are used to the maximum effect.
