HC Deb 04 November 1980 vol 991 c549W
Mr. Foulkes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what savings will be made by the delay in the pensions increase for each of the two weeks in the current year.

Mrs. Chalker

If the rates of benefit for the week commencing 24 November were to be paid two weeks earlier, the additional expenditure for each week would be about £62½ million, of which about £32½ million would be on retirement and supplementary pensions.
