HC Deb 03 November 1980 vol 991 c408W
Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will ensure that all short-term benefits and services are maintained at their real value in 1979 terms; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Chalker

Under the Social Security (No. 2) Act 1980, the uprating of short-term benefits is to be abated by five percentage points this November. No decision has been taken on the level of future upratings.
