§ Mrs. ChalkerAs to the standard rates of retirement pension payable to a man or woman on his or her own insurance and to a married woman on her husband's insurance from 5 July 1948 to the present time, I refer the hon. Member to table 13.01 on page 70 of "Social Security Statistics 1978", a copy of which is in the Library.
In 1945, the rate of old age pension payable to all three categories was 50p, which was increased from September 1946, to £1.30 for a man or woman on his or her own insurance and to 80p for a married woman on her husband's insurance.
The rates payable from 24 November this year will be £27.15 and £16.30 respectively.
