HC Deb 03 November 1980 vol 991 c481W
20. Mr. Joseph Dean

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what actions have been taken in Government Departments in relation to his announcement of 21 July regarding maximum temperatures.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

The Civil Service Department has issued a general notice stating that the new maximum limit of 19°C will require Departments to eliminate areas of overheating—thereby saving energy. My PSA staff responsible for the operation of heating systems will endeavour to maintain general office temperatures in the range of 17.5°C—19°C.
