HC Deb 03 November 1980 vol 991 cc416-7W
Mr. Field

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list any additions to the collection, presentation or publication of statistics which his Department has made since May 1979.

Mr. Whitelaw

The only new collection of statistics since May 1979 has been the collection of information on the expenses of the candidates in the European Assembly elections held in June 1979. A large number of improvements and additions have been made to the regular annual and quarterly publications and the following additional publications have been issued:

  • Statistics of the Misuse of Drugs, United Kingdom, 1977 (July 1979).
  • Previous convictions, sentence and reconviction, Home Office Research Study 53 (December 1979).
  • Statistics of the Criminal Justice System, England and Wales, 1968–78 (January 1980).
  • Home Office Statistical Bulletin 3/80 "Statistics on community service orders" (March 1980).
  • Home Office Statistical Bulletin 5/80 "Statistics on the operation of section 62: Criminal Law Act 1977" (March 1980).
  • Home Office Statistical Bulletin 6/80 "Drug addicts known to the Home Office, 1979" (April 1980).
  • Gambling statistics of Great Britain 1968–78 (Cmnd. 7897) (May 1980).
  • Statistics of drownings, 1977 (May 1980) and 1975 (October 1980).
  • European Assembly election expenses, United Kingdom, 1979 (September 1980).
