asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list any additions to the collection, presentation or publication of statistics which his Department has made since May 1979.

The following additions to the collection, presentation or publication of statistics have been made since May 1979An inquiry into the use of deputising services by general medical practitioners The collection of information in connection with the related ancillary staff scheme for general medical practitioners. New information on the operation of emergency dental service schemes. Information on the numbers of supported residents aged over 85 in local authority accommodation Information on recipients of supplementary benefit is now published regarding numbers of non-contributory benefits in payment and the ownership of their accommodation. Additional information has been collected on the contracting out provisions of the Social Security Pensions Act 1975, and on the effect of the abolition of the married women's election. Data on the additional component of retirement pensions was made available. Information on the additional component and graduated benefit paid with incapacity benefits is now collected. Extended information about the characteristics of those who have claimed unemployment benefit during the year is now analysed annually. The range of statistical information available in the library of the House has been extended.

The information above excludes minor changes to the form or scope of the statistics, and covers only regular returns. Other inquiries have been carried out as the need arose.
