§ Mr. Steenasked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he intends to reply to the letter from the hon. Member for Liverpool, Wavertree on 14 March relating to the case of Mr. Edward McCarthy; what are the reasons for the delays in settling this case; and it he intends to make a discretionary payment 323W in respect of the interest on borrowing made by Mr. McCarthy as a result of the failure of his Department to make social security payments to which Mr. McCarthy is entitled.
