HC Deb 21 May 1980 vol 985 cc206-7W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what action he is taking on his review of the Policyholders Protection Act 1975.

Mr. Eyre

I am required by section 30 of the Policyholders Protection Act 1975 to lay before Parliament within the first six months of 1981 a report reviewing the operation of this Act and its effectiveness as a method of protecting policyholders of authorised insurance companies carrying on business in the United Kingdom. To this end, the Department is asking certain insurance and other organisations likely to have particular interest in the review for their comments. We shall also take fully into account views received from anyone else with an interest in the working of this legislation. All representations on this matter should be received by the Department by 30 September 1980.
