HC Deb 21 May 1980 vol 985 c247W
37. Mr. Dobson

asked the Minister of Transport how many extra lorries he expects to enter the United Kingdom during 1980 as a result of his policy of liberalising international road haulage permit quotas.

Mr. Fowler

Very few. The demand normally comes from the British side and so increases in road haulage quotas in practice benefit United Kingdom hauliers going abroad far more than foreign hauliers coming here.
