HC Deb 21 May 1980 vol 985 cc219-20W
Mr. Guy Harnett

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many letters he has received about the future of the Inner London Education Authority; how many of these support the retention of the authority in its present form; and how many favour the devolution of the responsibility for education upon the councils of the boroughs in inner London.

Mr. Mark Carlisle

Some 600 letters, as distinct from petitions and common form letters, have been received. Of the 600, 40 favour the transfer of responsibility for education to the inner London boroughs, while most of the remainder oppose such a change.
