HC Deb 21 May 1980 vol 985 c257W
48. Mr. Philip Holland

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was spent on administration by (a) the Development Commission and (b) the Council for Small Industries in Rural Areas during the last 12-month period for which figures are available; and what was the total departmental cost of servicing each of these two bodies, including the salaries of departmental civil servants employed on matters directly related to them.

Mr. Monro

In 1978–79 the Development Commission's administration costs were £365,468; COSIRA's were £2.362 million.

It is not practicable to provide the information requested in the final part of the question in the form required. The total departmental cost of servicing both bodies was about £42,000 in that year.
