HC Deb 21 May 1980 vol 985 c232W
Mr. Cartwright

asked the Secretary of State for Defence when he expects to make a decision on the possible use of contract cleaners and caterers at the Royal Arsenal, the Queen Elizabeth military hospital, the Woolwich garrison officers' mess and the Royal Naval College, Greenwich.

Mr. Hayhoe

Work is still continuing on assessing the feasibility and balance of advantage in changing to contract cleaning at the Royal Arsenal, the Queen Elizabeth military hospital and the Royal Naval College, Greenwich; and to contract catering at the latter two establishments and at Woolwich garrison officers' mess. Decisions will be made on a case by case basis when this work is complete, after consultation with staff interests. I cannot at present say when this stage will be reached in individual cases. I will write to the hon. Member in due course.
