§ Mr. Buchanan-SmithThe programmes of aid for the fishing industry maintained by other member States in the Community vary widely from one country to another. The types of direct aid currently available are finance for the construction and improvement of fishing vessels, exploratory voyages, the scrapping or temporary laying-up of vessels, training of fishermen, the reduction of operating costs, harbour works, marketing and processing.
