§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list those mental hospitals that are still below the minimum standard for domestic staffing as set by his Department in March 1973 together with the reasons.
§ Sir George YoungThe minimum standard for domestic staffing in mental illness hospitals was set in March 1972 and the target date for achieving the standard was March 1973. Those hospitals which were still below the minimum standard at 30 September 1978, the latest date for which information is available, were High Royds and Scalebor Park hospitals—Yorkshire region—and West Park hospital—South-West Thames region—which were about 17, 1.5 and 11 staff short respectively. Information on the reasons for hospitals' failure to meet the standard is not held centrally.
