HC Deb 15 May 1980 vol 984 cc613-4W
Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what money will be available for the purchase of lands in the Lagan Valley regional park in 1980–81.

Mr. Goodhart

The Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland may acquire land for the purposes of preserving any area of natural beauty or amenity or establishing nature reserves but no money has been allocated for the purchase of land in the Lagan Valley regional park in 1980–81.

Any one of the district councils concerned, may however, apply to the Department for financial assistance to purchase land for public open space and grant in these circumstances is payable at the rate of 75 per cent.
