Mr. Ron Brownasked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of employees claiming unfair dismissal in Scotland were successful in being reinstated in their employment by appealing to an industrial tribunal during 1979.
§ Mr. MayhewInformation on the outcome of unfair dismissal cases is available only for Great Britain as a whole, and not the regions. The figures for 1979 are not yet available. In 1978, however, of the employees whose claims of unfair dismissal were upheld by an industrial tribunal, 2 per cent.—or 70—obtained orders for reinstatement and 1 per cent.—or 36—obtained orders for re-engagement.
