HC Deb 14 May 1980 vol 984 cc509-10W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science why he has no plans to abolish the Social Science Research Council.

Mr. Macfarlane

I refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to his question on 7 May concerning the functions of the Social Science Research Council.—[Vol. 984, c. 124.]

The Social Science Research Council was created under the provision of the Science and Technology Act 1965 and was granted a Royal Charter later that year. There are no legislative plans for the abolition of this council.
