asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many hospitals with secure accommodation will be made available in 1980–81 to accommodate the current level of mentally subnormals at present in Her Majesty's prisons in Northern Ireland.

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many hospitals at present have secure accommodation units in Northern Ireland.

[pursuant to his reply, 12 May 1980]: Special accommodation is provided in each of the six psychiatric hospitals in Northern Ireland for the more disturbed patient, and in addition Muckamore Abbey hospital provides secure accommodation for mentally handicapped people.

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how much money is being made available to hospitals with secure units to deal with mentally subnormal persons in Northern Ireland.

[pursuant to his reply, 13 May 1980]: Muckamore Abbey hospital provides secure accommodation for mentally handicapped people in Northern Ireland. £4,124,000 was allocated to the hospital for the 1978–79 financial year, the latest year for which information is available.
