§ Mr. Wheelerasked the Prime Minister if she will conduct a review into the costs and numbers of civil servants engaged in research and development for central Government.
§ The Prime MinisterResearch and development will be reviewed along with other functions performed by Government Departments, as part of the process of drawing up plans for achieving the reduction in the size of the Civil Service which I announced earlier today. Reviews of research and development are already in hand in some Departments.
