§ The Prime MinisterThe two major areas of tension in the Middle East are the Arab/Israel dispute and the repercussions of the Iranian revolution, both on other States in the area and on Iran's relations with the United States. No further initiatives are in immediate prospect about which the House has not already been informed, but we are in constant touch with other Governments, both directly and within the framework of the Western alliance and other organisations, in the search for diplomatic means which might lower tension and secure the early release of the American hostages.
