§ Mr. PattieThe Government are determined to work for balanced and verifiable measures of arms control which would lead to lower levels of nuclear armaments on both sides. It would, however, be unrealistic and dangerous for NATO to remove its theatre nuclear weapons from Europe while theatre nuclear weapons capable of hitting targets throughout Western Europe continue to be deployed in the Soviet Union.
