HL Deb 12 May 1980 vol 409 cc91-2WA
Lord BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What are the amounts paid in aid, under all headings, to each African "emergent country", during the last accounting period; and what, for each such country, is the intended aid programme for 1980–81.

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN and COMMONWEALTH AFFAIRS (Lord Carrington)

Full statistics for the financial year 1979–80 are not yet available. Details of gross aid expenditure to Africa in calendar year 1979 are given below. It is not the practice to publish details of forward programmes to individual countries, beyond what is shown in the Supply Estimates, because planning assumptions may not be realised or, in certain cases, may require adjustment during the course of the year.
