§ Mr. ChannonI refer my hon. Friend to table 6B of the memorandum by the chief Secretary to the Treasury—Cmnd. 7869. This shows the estimated staff numbers at 1 April 1980 by ministerial responsibilities, by Department and by function. Corresponding data for staff in post are no longer collected. The total number of staff in post at 1 April 1980 was 705,100, and the staff numbers for the main Departments were given in answer to a question from the hon.
