§ Mr. Aspinwallasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will seek to amend school leaving dates as laid down in section 9 of the Education Act 1962 in order that children who have completed their examinations may take up employment.

§ Dr. BoysonThe Education (School Leaving Dates) Act 1976 amended section 9 of the Education Act 1962 by changing the second leaving date from the end of the summer term to the Friday before the last Monday in May. This achieved the object of my hon. Friend's question.
