§ Mr. Peter Robinsonasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, in the light of the concern about the destruction of an historic part of the city of Belfast as a result of planning decisions, if he will make a statement on the reasons for these decisions and the advice on which they were based.
§ Mr. GoodhartI understand that the hon. Member is referring to the area of Donegall Quay, Belfast, and in particular the private premises of James Tedford and Company Limited. No premises there including those of Tedford have been the subject of any recent planning decisions. In March 1979 the Department of the Environment for Northern Ireland acquired property in Donegall Quay with42W a view to using part of it for car-parking purposes. This property includes part of the premises occupied by Tedford, but there are no plans to require that firm to vacate the premises.
