Mr. Proctor

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list in the Official Report for the years 1948 and 1950 and for each five years since 1950 the estimated size of the New Commonwealth population of the United Kingdom, the estimated size of the total population of the United Kingdom and the percentage of the New Commonwealth population of the United Kingdom born in the United Kingdom.

Figures for 1948 and 1950 are not available, but estimates for each fifth year from 1951 onwards are given below. Persons of mixed origin are included. The estimates for the earlier years are subject to wider margins of uncertainty than those for 1971 and 1976.
