§ Mr. Harold Walkerasked the Secretary of State for Employment what plans he has for the future development of the Industrial Health and Safety Centre in Horseferry Road.
§ Mr. Mayhew[pursuant to his reply, 2 May 1980, c. 592]: The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has carried out a cost-effective study in relation to the Industrial Health and Safety Centre in Horseferry Road, which indicated that the cost per head for visitors was higher than for comparable methods of bringing relevant information to the public. The cost of the centre is not justified in relation to the total resources of the Health and Safety Commission, and the Commission has accordingly decided that the centre shall be closed.
