Mr. Colvin

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his estimate of the total annual cost of education and training undertaken by his Department; and whether he is able to make an estimate of the cost of training carried out by the private sector in Scotland.

The Estimates total cost of training by all sources for the Scottish Office during 1978–79 was £2.25 million which includes salaries and related costs
