HC Deb 02 May 1980 vol 983 cc713-4W
Mr. Peter Robinson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what plans he has to increase the number or size of police stations and police centres in Northern Ireland in the next 12 months.

Mr. Alison

The provision of accommodation for the Royal Ulster Constabulary is the responsibility of the Police Authority for Northern Ireland. I understand that, under its building programme, five major building projects for police stations or extensions should be completed in the next 12 months, during which time it is planned that a further four such projects will be started.

One new local police centre will be opened in the near future, and the need to open others is kept under review.
