HC Deb 02 May 1980 vol 983 c707W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, as Operation Countryman began in August 1978, he will request the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis to take whatever action may prove necessary to expedite the conclusion of these investigations before people die and the persons concerned are unable to remember what happened two to three years ago.

Mr. Whitelaw

The Commissioners of the Police of the Metropolis and for the City of London, and the officers undertaking the investigations, are fully aware of the need to complete them as quickly as possible.
