§ 28. Mr. Alan Clarkasked the Secretary of State for Trade what is the latest estimate of the likely trade deficit with the European Economic Community in manufactured goods and other goods and services, respectively, for 1979–80 and 1980–81.
§ Mr. NottOfficial forecasts of this kind are not available. The latest available data show crude deficits on our trade with the Community in 1979 of £2.7 billion for manufactures and £0.3 billion for other goods, and a balance of payments deficit for services, which includes substantial Government military expenditure overseas, of £0.1 billion in 1978.
