§ Mr. du Cannasked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will make a statement on the introduction of the new rate of secretarial allowance in accordance with the resolution passed in the House on 4 March.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasI have instructed the Fees Office to meet claims for secretarial and research assistance allowance in accordance with the rates set out in the resolution tabled by the Government which will apply from 14 February this year. Questions arising from the amendment providing for payments in respect of secretaries' pensions, and questions of accountability, are being urgently considered and I shall be making a further statement in the near future.
