§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what study he has made of the links between mass vandalism and affrays on public 667W transport in London and liquor licences granted to premises associated with such violence; and whether he considers that any further action is required in this regard.
§ Mr. WhitelawI have made no special study of the kind suggested, but I believe that there is little doubt about the link between alcohol and crime. I shall shortly be holding, jointly with the Minister of Transport, a conference on violence on public transport, and the steps that can be taken to prevent this type of violent behaviour will be among the questions discussed.
